This scale project is designed to prompt viewers to reconsider the use of shared space. Inspired by my experiences in daily boarding life, I've observed numerous issues arising from the communal use of space. My friends and I have experienced our food being taken from the common refrigerator without our consent multiple times. In response to this frustration, I created this magnified mock 'GoPro,' strategically angled at the person opening the fridge door, to “theoretically” monitor the shared refrigerator in my dorm. Just like the psychology phenomenon “Hawthorne effect,” I hope the users of this shared space can internally reflect upon their behaviors in a communal setting and possibly behave better when they know they are being “watched.”
